We encourage any and all applications for membership in the Canary Islanders Descendants Association (CIDA) pending the application meets all of the necessary requirements.
Canary Islands Descendants Association's membership, with full voting rights, shall be available to all natural descendants of the original sixteen families who were commissioned by the King of Spain to emigrate from the Canary Islands to found, in this northeastern frontier of Nueva España, the Villa de San Fernando, which became the City of San Antonio, and having arrived on March 9, 1731 for that purpose. Members who genealogically-documented descendants of one, or more, of the sixteen Canary Islands families are qualified to be descendant members of the Canary Islands.
Direct-Descendant Member-Dues $25.00 annually.
Associate Member-Dues $15.00 annually, (this category for living or deceased spouses of Direct-Descendant Members)
Junior Member-Dues $15.00 annually, a one time fee w/$5.00 processing fee. This category is for children up to the age of 18 years, at 19 years of age they will be regular members and pay $25.00 annually.
Provisional Member-Has a two year limit in which to complete their application and no dues paid until they are members.
Honorary Member- No Dues. This is only for a benefactor who has contributed generously, consistently or significantly to the Association.
Affiliate Member-No Dues. This category is for a member in active and good standing of a sister Canary Island Association (such as Louisiana)
